The Baroque arouses ecstasy and rapture involving in a game of excesses, movement, theatricality and color. After the rigor following the Council of Trent (1563) the Catholic Church triumphed over the Protestant heresy and religious images ascended to heaven in a triumph of the senses. Pietro da Cortona, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini are the main protagonists of a revolution in taste which marks an era defined as the "Baroque Age" and which reaches its peak between 1630 and 1670. In this turn of years architecture , painting, sculpture and applied arts, but also urban planning and the art of gardens undergo a rapid transformation of forms in a continuous game of solids and voids, of broken and continuous lines capable of ideally referring to the rhetorical figure of the metaphor. This exhibition, which wants to celebrate the architectural and urban identity of the city of Noto, is a journey into Baroque painting starting from its debut.

The exhibition "Terra e Cielo" presents 15 works by the sculptor Giuseppe Agnello, these are unpublished works, created in the last two years, which trace a further segment in the poetics of the Sicilian artist. They are sculptures, installations, reliefs, in which Giuseppe Agnello represents an atavistic as well as present theme, the relationship between man and nature, in which the two elements, however, are not opposites. In "Earth and Sky" the artist expresses the possible harmony that he declines starting from the technique and material he uses to create his works. Gypsum, salt, alabaster: earth that blends with mimetic elements such as branches and buds of which the human figure acts as intermediary in an attempt to harmonize what appears to be in an inexorable clash.
Pop Garden is inspired by the colors and the artistic world of Pop Art. This immersive, multimedia and multisensory installation is set up in a room with walls covered with mirrors and silhouettes of flowers that will magically color themselves in time with the music. Produced with tangible physical elements (flowers), video-mapping projections and music in a fluid environment without borders, its reflective walls multiply the Pop garden. Dazzling lights, rock music and bright flowers that sprout from the ground form this magical garden where time and space have no boundaries and where even visitors are reflected to infinity. Art meets fun, and no one can resist a selfie to capture their 15 minutes of fame.
