The story that the exhibition proposes is an intimate and precious encounter with the artistic culture of Leonardo da Vinci and his pupils in the heart of the Renaissance. The conceptual, artistic and emotional pivot of this unprecedented narrative is the Virgin of the Rocks: Leonardo's enigmatic project for the central altarpiece of the large polyptych commissioned by the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception for the Church of San Francesco Grande. The extraordinary impact on Milanese artistic culture must have aroused the curiosity of the wealthy and cultured public of the time, to the point that the masterpiece enjoyed a very long and prolific iconographic success. The exhibition exhibits one of the versions closest to the hand of the Maestro di Vinci (the Cheramy version) and various other masterpieces by direct students, from which it is possible to detect the depth of the dialectical skills of these very talented disciples of Leonardo.

And 10 other works by the masters:

Martino Piazza da Lodi, Cesare da Sesto, Marco d'Oggiono, Giovan Pietro Rizzoli, known as 'Giampietrino', Bernardino Lanino
